The theme of the play is the consequences of physical impairment on the affected person's body, mind and soul. The actual pain and inconvenience caused by the disabilities is often much less than the sense of alienation felt by the disabled person.

Answer- The impression that the writer has given us that Mrs Pearson is a very loving wife and mother who only wants to make her family happy. She is meek and subdued and does everything that her family wants her to do. On the other hand, her family does not care for her and takes her for granted
